About me
I was initially trained as a skilled surgeon in Colombia, and my journey led me to the United States, where I embarked on a path of continuous learning and growth within the field of surgery. Upon arriving in the U.S., I immersed myself in a two-year research endeavor at Cleveland Clinic Florida, focusing on Bariatric surgery. Subsequently, I pursued a formal surgical residency in New York, a five-year commitment that further honed my expertise and proficiency. Following my residency, I returned to Cleveland Clinic Florida, for a bariatric surgery fellowship, solidifying my specialization in this crucial area. My commitment to excellence led me to attain certification as a Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery and Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery. As a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and a fellow of ASMBS, my dedication to advancing surgical techniques is well-documented. Since 2006, I have been an active member of SAGES, reflecting my deep engagement with the organization's mission. My contributions extend beyond memberships, encompassing a term as the secretary of the ASMBS Florida chapter and a prolific track record of National and International publications and presentations. Today, I proudly serve as the Medical Director of the Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery Institute at Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg.
I look forward to the potential to contribute to SAGES as a speaker, sharing my journey and expertise to inspire and educate colleagues and ultimately advancing the Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery field.
