Last month we kicked off our new SAGES campaign, More Than Our Name. This is the first in a series of emails exploring the concepts in this campaign. With members in over 100 countries and 6 continents, today we highlight SAGES as a global society! Below are a couple of examples of the global initiatives SAGES is working on.
FUSE & FLS International Network
SAGES created the Fundamentals of Surgical Energy (FUSE) program to improve surgical know-how and patient safety in regards to the principles and properties of operating electro-surgical instruments safely. As part of our global effort to reach a wider audience of test takers, SAGES has expanded the FUSE testing network. Test takers residing outside of the U.S. and military personnel stationed overseas can now take the test at Kryterion Authorized Test centers, a global network of over 1,000 testing locations. The FUSE online curriculum is available in English, Spanish, and Chinese. Visit the FUSE website for more information.
The Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) is a comprehensive web-based educational module and assessment tool designed to teach the fundamental knowledge, judgment, and technical skills required in laparoscopic surgery. It helps measure cognitive and technical skills and allows surgeons to document those skills. Test centers are located throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as globally in countries such as China, France, Israel, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates, with additional plans for expansion. Visit the FLS website for more information on where testing is offered and how you can register.
