Grant Update Report
Per the SAGES research grant guidelines, you are required to complete this update twice a year or more until the conclusion of your project. Failure to complete these updates may result in a denial of future funding for all investigators. In addition to general grant updates, this form can be used for modification requests regarding change in institute, investigator(s), revision to proposal, budget, timeline modification/extension, or to closeout your project. An abstract must be submitted for the SAGES Scientific Session, which immediately follows the successful completion of the work. Additionally, upon acceptance of the abstract for presentation at the SAGES Scientific Session, a manuscript on the study and your findings must be sent to Surgical Endoscopy. A final manuscript from Surgical Endoscopy must be submitted to the SAGES office in order for your grant to be considered complete.
SAGES Research Network Database
Are you interested in clinical trials? SAGES is creating a new exciting initiative that we want you to be a part of: the SAGES Research Network Database
This Network will:
- Provide an opportunity for surgeons to participate in new clinical trials
- Allow surgeon-investigators to identify interested groups of surgeons and sites for participation in their studies.
- Allow industry partners to identify interested groups of surgeons and sites for participation in their studies.
- Promote diversity of patient populations and make explicit efforts to better represent minorities in surgical trials

SAGES Research Grants
Description: The SAGES Research Awards are open to any principal investigator who is a current SAGES member, including Candidate Members. Please read all the guidelines carefully. Awards are conferred on a competitive basis by submission of a grant application, which is reviewed and evaluated by the SAGES Research & Career Development Committee and approved by the Governing Board. If your SAGES membership application is currently under review, please contact [email protected].
Amount: up to $30,000

SAGES Disparities in Healthcare Grant
Description: The pandemic has exposed many disparities in access to healthcare. In our own field of surgery, disparities in advance techniques including MIS have been identified; however, there is very little evidence to guide strategies in these disparities. This call for research would prioritize grants or quality improvement projects to potentially reduce disparities in access to MIS and robotic surgery that could be adopted more widely to address this healthcare need. This awards is open to any principal investigator who is a current SAGES member, including Candidate Members. Please read all the guidelines carefully. Awards are conferred on a competitive basis by submission of a grant application, which is reviewed and evaluated by the SAGES Research & Career Development Committee and approved by the Governing Board. If your SAGES membership application is currently under review, please contact [email protected].
Amount: up to $20,000
Applications: Applications will close Friday, November 15, 2024 at 5:00 PM E.S.T.
