We present a technical video on the laparoscopic management of a colovesical fistula via a clinical case. The patient on whom the procedure was performed is a 53 year old HIV positive male with a large colovesical fistula able to be traversed with an endoscope, which has caused pneumaturia and fecaluria for six months. Laparoscopic port sites are illustrated and patient positioning is described. The principles of dissection are detailed, with an emphasis on blunt technique when possible. However
Purpose : This video demonstrates recent advances achieved in robotic capabilities specific to colon and rectal surgery. Some of these maneuvers are presented for the first time.
Methods : Ileal pouch-anal anastomosis is a complex procedure performed in all four quadrants and the deep pelvis. As such, performance of IPAA robotically was felt to be particularly useful to capture and display key technical enhancements achieved during our extensive robotic colectomy experience.
Results : The
Objective: Transanal endoscopic surgery (TES) has several unique advantages for the resection of large benign polyps and carcinomas of the rectum, however there are several barriers to its widespread use, including a steep learning curve, technical challenges and specialized equipment. The purpose of this video is to demonstrate the technique, as well as tips and tricks that we have developed through our experience with TES.
Pre-operative planning: The standard indications for TES include excis
Study objective: To report a combined triple approach of vaginal excision, rectal shaving using plasma energy, deep nodule removal and transanal disc excision using an end-to-end anastomosis circular stapler suitable in deep rectal endometriosis responsible for large posterior vaginal involvement.
Intervention: The procedure was performed at Rouen University Hospital, in a 28 year-old nullipara referred with symptomatic stage 4 endometriosis, and a large endometriotic nodule in
Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery, or TAMIS, is a technique that is used to excise benign rectal polyps and early stage rectal cancers. This video demonstrates the use of TAMIS technique in the excision of a low rectal tumor in a 78 year old male. After developing a post-operative bleed, TAMIS was also used in the emergency setting to control the patient’s rectal bleeding.
