Position title: Minimally Invasive Surgery Faculty Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $218,000 - $350,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Position description
The Department of Surgery, Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery (https://surgery.ucsd.edu/divisions/mis/index.html) at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body.
The Department, in partnership with the Chief Clinical Innovation Officer (https://health.ucsd.edu/about-us/leadership/christopher-longhurst/), seeks to recruit a minimally invasive/bariatric surgeon interested in quality improvement, change management, and clinical informatics, who will integrate care delivery with health innovation.
The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, providing clinical care, and contributing to research initiatives led by the Chief of the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Additionally, the candidate's role with the Chief Clinical and Innovation Officer will support ongoing performance improvement, quality and patient safety initiatives, and formal clinical informatics training.
The position will be 50% with the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery and 50% with the Chief Clinical and Innovation Officer.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree and be Board-eligible or Board-certified in General Surgery.
Candidates must also have, or be eligible for, a California medical license or an equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Candidates must have completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery by the start date of the appointment.
Preferred qualifications
Candidates with at least 10 publications are preferred.
Candidates with a minimum of one year of experience in quality improvement, change management, and clinical informatics are also preferred.
