The Division of GI, Trauma and Endocrine Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado is pleased to announce the development of a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery. This unaccredited program is one-year in length. The program is offered to fully trained and board eligible general surgeons who desire to further develop their technical skills and surgical judgment in performing a vast spectrum of gastrointestinal and abdominal wall reconstruction operations. The clinical training throughout the year is divided into one-month rotations at the University of Colorado Hospital. The fellow will work with 5 faculty members who specialize in minimally invasive surgery. Fellows are responsible for preoperative and postoperative patient care and they will perform surgical procedures under the direction of an attending surgeon. The fellow will also participate in the outpatient clinics, patient rounds, lectures, seminars, journal club and research conferences. The fellow will also be responsible for helping to supervise and teach residents and medical students.
Completed applications should be returned by June 25th. Selected candidates are encouraged to come to Colorado to interview; however, Skype interviews are also offered, if travel is not possible.
Candidates must be graduates of a recognized medical school and have completed a general surgery residency training program. Selected candidates must qualify for, and obtain, a training or full license to practice medicine from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, in accordance with its requirements. We do not sponsor visas at this time.

- Personal Statement – this should include a description of the candidate’s qualifications and motivation for applying to the program
- Copy of medical diploma
- Two letters of recommendation
