Fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) is a rapidly growing modality which uses ICG/near infrared emitting devices to improve intraoperative visualization and surgical decision making. This is a two-day, intensive course that will explore the most comprehensive techniques in FGS and advanced laparoscopic skills using didactic & simulation components.
After completing this educational activity, the participant will:
- Understand the growing scope of Fluorescence-Guided Surgery across multiple surgical specialties (foregut, bariatric, colorectal, general surgery, endocrine, oncology)
- Have experienced hands-on intraoperative ICG and NIR-surgical devices
- Have developed advanced laparoscopic suturing skills
- Have experience with in-vivo and ex-vivo laparoscopic bowel anastomosis simulations
Registration: Limited to 45 participants. This course will be open only to 1st or 2nd year fellows in the 2024-2025 academic year. SAGES Candidate Membership (or the submission of a completed SAGES membership application) is mandatory for acceptance JOIN SAGES
Airfare up to $600, meals and hotel accommodations are provided. Participants are responsible for their own ground transportation to the hotel. SAGES will provide shuttle transportation to the airport Saturday following the course. For non-local attendees, the required arrival date is Thursday afternoon or evening to allow for an early start on Friday.
Please note that registrants will be charged a refundable $100 fee. This will be refunded after the completion of the course.
