Laparoscopic surgery requires more varied and sophisticated technology than open surgery. Reliable, efficient equipment is indispensable. In 1995, the SAGES Continuing Education Committee surveyed more than 2,000 members to determine the technical equipment "trouble-spots" that cause delays, interruptions or difficulties in the O.R. The Committee created a "Troubleshooting Chart" to help address these problems. The Troubleshooting Chart has been updated and revised, and we are pleased to present the new version to you.
This chart is designed as a quick, handy source of problem-solving for O.R. Personnel. It should be hung on the video cart so that it is readily accessible before and during laparoscopic procedures.
The chart was revised by the SAGES Continuing Education Committee.
SAGES has also prepared a Laparoscopic Surgery Operative Checklist. Designed to be useful to the entire OR Team, this Checklist covers common items for Pre-Patient Entry, After Patient Entry, and Scrub Tech/RN duties.
